Guatemalan Protesters March 9 Days For Indigenous Rights

The protesters, who set out from the city of Coban on March 19, called for the elimination of agrarian debt, a just redistribution of land, terrain for subsistence crops, termination of forced relocations, persecution and criminalization of indigenous people fighting for their rights, cancellation of concessions for mining, petroleum, hydroelectric projects, and monoculture agriculture, and for the approval of bills in Guatemalan Congress benefiting poor and indigenous communities.
