Immigration Activists Join May Day Protests

May Day has become a traditional day of protest throughout Latin America as well as other parts of the world, and a day for Latinos in the United States to call for immigration reform. In 2006, a coalition of immigrant groups in Los Angeles asked immigrant workers to walk off the job and protest “a day without an immigrant” as a response to the U.S. government’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants.
